If you're out and about on Saturday, it might be a good idea to carry your eclipse glasses for a chance to catch a glimpse of the Oct. 14 annular solar eclipse. While the path of totality runs through the Southwest, all contiguous states, including Tennessee, will be able to view a portion of the eclipse. Here's what to know. The annular solar eclipse happens when the moon passes between the Earth and the sun, but the moon is at the furthest point away from Earth in its orbit. When it is further away, it isn't able to entirely cover the sun, thus creating the ring of fire.
