Gwendolyn Sutton is the new president of the Tennessee College of Applied Technology Memphis. She is the first woman to lead the college. The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Memphis enrolls just over 1,100 students according to the most recent data from the U.S. Department of Education. African Americans make up just 54 percent of the student body. Dr. Sutton began her higher education career in 2001 as a financial aid officer. After two years at private colleges in Jackson, Mississippi, and Memphis, she joined TCAT Memphis as financial aid coordinator in 2003 and served in that role for 10 years.
