Amazon announced Tuesday that it will hire 250,000 employees for the coming holiday season, including opening 3,000 jobs in Shelby County. A total of 7,600 of those jobs will be coming to Tennessee, according to a news release. Open full-time, part-time and holiday positions will be in stowing, packing, picking, sorting and shipping. In Memphis, there are two fulfillment centers — one in Raleigh and South Memphis — and a distribution center also in South Memphis. According to the news release, Amazon contributed more than $21 billion to Tennessee's GDP since 2010.
